Oak Point Partners acquired the remnant assets of the Weiner’s Stores, Inc. (Weiner’s Stores) Bankruptcy Estate in March 2018.
On October 16, 2000, Weiner’s Stores filed a voluntary petition under chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, assigned Case No. 00-03955. On May 3, 2002, the Court entered an order in the Chapter 11 Case confirming the Liquidating Plan of Reorganization of Debtor and Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors dated February 11, 2002, pursuant to which a Surviving Officer of the Debtor was appointed and vested with the power and duty to administer the remaining assets of the Debtors.

Founded in 1926 by Isidore Weiner, Weiner’s Stores was a discount retailer of apparel, domestics, and housewares. The company mostly catered to minorities, with 80% of its clientele being African American and Hispanic. To better serve the community, stores were primarily located in neighborhoods, rather than in densely populated cities. The company primarily competed with other large discount retailers. At its peak, Weiner’s operated 158 locations across Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama and employed over 3,800 people.
Weiner’s Stores also operated under the trade name Weiner’s Department Stores.
