On January 4, 2012, Trident Microsystems filed a petition under chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, jointly administered under Case No. 12-10069. On December 13, 2012, the Court entered an order confirming the Debtors’ Modified Second Amended Joint Plan of Liquidation, pursuant to which a Responsible Person was appointed and vested with the power and duty to administer certain assets of the Debtor.

Founded in 1987, Trident Microsystems designed, developed, and marketed integrated circuits and related software for processing, displaying, and transmitting audio, graphics and images in home consumer electronics applications. The company became well known by selling graphics chipset and video cards for desktop PCs and laptops. When the LCD TV market started to grow, the company shifted its business by supplying display processors for digital TVs. The company employed 565 people.
