Oak Point Partners acquired the remnant assets of the Chi-Chi’s, Inc. Bankruptcy Estate in July 2010.
Chi-Chi’s, Inc. and its related entities (“Chi-Chi’s”) filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on October 8, 2003 (Case #03-13063 in the United States Bankruptcy Court, District of Delaware). A bankruptcy plan was approved and a liquidating trustee was appointed to liquidate the estate’s assets.

Founded in 1975, Chi-Chi’s operated a national chain of casual Mexican food restaurants. The restaurant was known for its chimichanges, spicy salsa and nachos, and fried ice cream Chi-Chis was founded by Marno McDermit and Max McGee, a former NFL player for the Green Bay Packers. At its peak, the company operated 237 restaurants.
Chi-Chi’s also operated under several trade names including CCMR and The Hamlet Group.
The former headquarters of Chi-Chi’s was located in Irvine, CA.
